George W Bush tastes life in the slow lane at Coffee Station diner

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/article57211...
The Peace House, set up by anti-war activists across the street from the Coffee Station, is empty these days. As a parting gesture, campaigners unfurled a giant banner across their shed when Mr Bush left office, proclaiming “Mission Accomplished”, the overly optimistic phrase he uttered aboard a US aircraft carrier in the early days of the Iraq war. The activists also stuck their shoes on the picket fence as a gesture of solidarity with the Iraqi journalist who threw a shoe at Mr Bush on his last trip to Baghdad

Follow Up With Your Local D.A. Now That They Have The Bugliosi Book On Prosecuting Dick & W

An activist group has sent copies of the Vince Bugliosi Book,
"The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder" to each and every
local county district attorney in the country, nearly 3,000 books in
the mail which were due to arrive at their destinations on or about
Feb. 21, so they should be there by now.

To follow up we are asking all our participants to make it their
mission to confirm with your local prosecutor that they got their
copy of the book, and make sure to tell them that Vince Bugliosi
himself wrote them a cover letter with the book, offering his help in

Anger as a Gift by Johnny Wolf

Many peace activists are filled with anger
A hostile act may alienate those who might want to join you

Anger is a God given emotion that states that there is something you want that you are not getting.
Anger causes an acceleration of energy to make change

The negative aspect of this emotion is rage
Or the use of this energy to change by destruction
The feeling of hopelessness often gives birth to rage

The positive aspect of anger is that the energy generated can be used as a creative force to make change possible
Hope is the first step toward making change

The philosophies of Gandhi and King are based on the concept of redemption of ones opponent

King sets out that there are five steps to a non violent direct action
1. Research the truth
2. Purify your self
3. Speak to your opponent about the change you want them to make
4. Do your non-violent action then Repeat steps 2-3-4
5. Make reconciliation upon success

In Starhawk’s book “The Fifth Sacred Thing”
In response to a brutal occupying force her characters respond
“There is a place for you at our table”

Make a space for those who might oppose you to be welcomed
Be prepared for change

As I gain my freedom, I am determined that neither those who remain in detention, nor their abusers, are forgotten

I have proposed the idea of a truth and reconciliation commission to investigate abuses during the Bush-Cheney Administration -- so they never happen again. These abuses may include the use of torture, warrantless wiretapping, extraordinary rendition, and executive override of laws.

Please sign this online petition, urging Congress to consider establishing a truth and reconciliation commission to investigate the Bush-Cheney Administration's abuses.

Citizen Diplomacy, An Eyewitness Report on Gaza - Col. Ann Wright

Day 2 in Gaza: Ann´s diary, Mon, Feb 9, 2009

Medea Benjamin, Tighe Barry and I (retired Col. Ann Wright) arrived Jan. 29 in Cairo for a 10-day trip to Gaza, but only spent two days there before Egyptian authorities ordered all foreigners to leave by Feb. 5. But we called for an opening of the borders, were shown the Egyptian-Gazan underground tunnels, met with women´s aid groups to organize a fundraising effort for the women of Gaza for March 8, International Women´s Day. Here´s my account of Day 2 in Gaza:

As We Look Forward We Must Also Look Back

Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, January 21, 2009
I rise as we celebrate a new President, a new administration, a new mode of governing, and a new future for America.

Even in the gloom of our present predicaments, Americans' hearts are strong and confident because we see a brighter future ahead.

President Obama looks to that future. Given the depth and severity of those predicaments, we need all his energy to look forward to lead us to that brighter day; forward to what Winston Churchill in Britain's dark days called those "broad and sunlit uplands."

Guantanamo, 40 acres and a mule to the survivors--by James Wolf

At a time when the successors of American freed slaves are still waiting for their promised 40acres and a mule, the remaining souls still imprisoned for life without rights at Guantanamo and many other such slave pens may be joining their ranks. Why are these people still imprisoned, their lives and livelihood bartered by those who own their fate?
